Let's Tap [Big N]

Ever heard of a game called Let’s Tap? If you have, it’s probably been in the context of how ridiculous it is. Basically, you control the game by tapping on a surface. That’s it. The game comes with a cardboard box in Japan, but what about here in the States? Let’s check out this Let’s Tap unboxing, courtesy of Giant Bomb, instead of any 3GS unboxings that might be happening today. ...

Trauma Team [Embedded Reporter]

Deep from the trenches, it’s time for your Monday video feature: Embedded Reporter. I really enjoyed the Trauma Center games that I used to play on the Wii and it looks like Atlus is localizing yet another, but this time we have the twist that the player will control more than just a single (or pair of) doctors, now he will be responsible for much more of the medical activity as he saves lives. ...

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories [Big N]

I’m not a fan of the horror genre. Not even a little bit. The only “survival horror” game I’ve ever played was Eternal Darkness and, despite how awesome that game is, it scared the bejesus out of me in some places. Yet here we are again with another horror game tempting me with it’s interesting aesthetic. The Silent Hill series has always been the more “intellectual” survival horror game compared to Resident Evil, in that it relied more on psychological scares in places and was designed to reflect that. The enemies and locations were generated from repressed psychological instincts rather than just using standard horror tropes. Combat was never any good because the point of the game was that the protagonist was a regular Joe, not someone accustomed to fighting freakish monsters. ...

No MLB Power Pros 2009 [GO]

I think we can officially call it right here: MLB Power Pros 2009 is not coming to the states. By this point last year we already knew that the 2008 edition was launching in July past the All-Star game. On the other hand, we didn’t know about the first one until about September or October, so I still had some hope. Until I saw this post on Kotaku. What a shame that 2K is missing a tremendous opportunity to publish a great game that people in the US do actually love. ...

E3 Extravaganza [Game Overview]

Insert another credit, because it’s time for your weekly video game news and you’ve just hit the Game Overview screen. E3 is a magical time for video games. So much news happened in this past week that this is gonna be an epic post filled with tons of trailers and news. In no particular order, here it goes: Look! A three-headed monkey! First off we have the Monkey Island news again. Tales of Monkey Island will be debuting next month (!) on 7 July from Telltale Games. Yes, it’s super exciting…yes, Telltale has proven that they can have moderate success and timely release with episodic adventure games…but I don’t feel the humor of Ron Gilbert in the trailer. ...

The Beatles: Rock Band [GO]

Amazing. These The Beatles: Rock Band trailers will rock your socks. The cinematic is my personal favorite. More later. I’ll try and figure out why it breaks my theme too… EDIT: Fixed? Still pretty annoying.

Misc. News [Game Overview]

Insert another credit, because it’s time for your weekly video game news and you’ve just hit the Game Overview screen. King of Fighters XII, yeah that’s still coming out. I’m having a hard time caring without Mai :hint hint: See the episode below to catch the trailer. Explosive Remember last week when I told you all about that Giant Bomb achievements feature? Seems I’m not doing that well. I’ve only got ‘A’s in Mass Effect, Castle Crashers, and Lost Odyssey and a good chunk of my rare achievements are World of Warcraft achievements available only to those who were playing the game way back in the day. That being said, I do have a lot of Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect rare achievements and I think I’m going to ignore the DoA 4 rare since it’s probably the anti-achievement I got for losing tons of matches. ...

Rays and Marlins Update and Punch-Out!!? [Wednesday Morning Quarterback]

It’s time for Wednesday Morning Quarterback, your weekly sports round-up. The Rays finally managed to hit the .500 mark two days ago only to lose last night against the Athletics in a heartbreaking game that remained scoreless until the 11th. You can’t really say that the Rays have been on a tear, but they have won six of their last ten, which should continue to edge them upward in win percentage if they can continue. Two more games against the Athletics will be followed by three against the Marlins in their interleague series and we’ll see how that turns out. The Rays are three games back from the Yankees and that needs to change. Unfortunately, the Yanks are playing the Orioles, so unless the Rays start capitalizing on the fact that they’re playing a weak team in the Athletics, things are going to just get uglier for them. They’re both good teams, but I think the Rays tended to edge out the Fish last year. Interleague games: the only time I root against the Tampa Bay Rays ...

MLB PP 09 [Embedded Reporter]

Deep from the trenches, it’s time for your Monday video feature: Embedded Reporter. 2K has been silent as to whether or not this will be localized, but here’s the latest trailer on my favorite baseball series: MLB Power Pros! Bring this stateside 2K. There’s a dedicated fanbase that will buy it.

Punch-Out [Embedded Reporter]

Deep from the trenches, it’s time for your Monday video feature: Embedded Reporter. Punch-Out is on it’s way back and everyone’s excited for it. How about a video montage and a comparison across its history. Ah, Punch-Out…reminding everyone that racial stereotypes are funny…
