What I've Been Doing 28 Dec 2011 [FB/IB/F/BT/GO]

[caption id="" align=“aligncenter” width=“500” caption=“Stay calm everyone, but the Bounty Hunter class quest deals with an albino wookiee!”] [/caption] This is suuuper delayed, but I’ve been traveling and enjoying the holidays and recovering from sickness and that all takes time, you know? Movies Bridesmaids - Viewing number 4ish. I love the flip out scene where Kristin Wiig and Maya Rudolph have it out. Great scene. ...

What I've Been Doing 17 Oct 2011 [FB/IB/F/BT/GO]

[caption id="" align=“aligncenter” width=“375” caption=“Those stupid hats everyone makes fun of actually do motivate me to play sometimes.”] [/caption] Movies Bran Nue Dae - Disappointingly mediocre. I was expecting something interesting from a musical about aboriginal life in Australia, but it just wasn’t there. Uneven pacing, bland characters, and, worst of all, completely forgettable music. That’s the one thing you have to do right in a musical! ...

What I've Been Doing 10 October 2011 [FB/IB/F/BT/GO]

[caption id="" align=“aligncenter” width=“500” caption=“Totally unrelated to everything else, but I got a new camera!”] [/caption] Movies Everything Must Go - Rebecca Hall is superb. I first saw her in The Prestige and I instantly fell in love with her acting. She’s a good understated and expressive actor. Will Ferrell in a drama is pretty neat too. He really shows a lot of range on this and I’d like to see his career move in this direction. ...

What I've Been Doing 05 Sept 2011 [FB/IB/F/BT/GO]

[caption id="" align=“aligncenter” width=“333” caption=“Best NPR First Listen!”] [/caption] Movies Tokyo Godfathers - I wrote at length about this movie here, but I just wanted to take a few words to say how truly fantastic it was. Great movie. Crazy, Stupid, Love. - Tiffany and I were choosing between this and Our Idiot Brother (ostensibly because they were the only two “date” movies, but really because of my dual crushes on Emma Stone and Zooey Deschanel), but I think this would have been the better choice. Crazy, Stupid, Love. was sweet and funny. Only real downside was the C-plot being a little creepy. Easily the best romantic movie I saw this summer (Best comedy goes to Bridesmaids). ...

What I've Been Doing 8 Aug 2011 [FB/IB/BT/GO]

[caption id="" align=“aligncenter” width=“300” caption=“The new Spider-Man is Miles Morales, a previously unseen character motivated to do good by Peter’s sacrifice…or so Marvel says. I’ve yet to read a story issue with him in it.”] [/caption] Movies Horrible Bosses - Part of me thought it was hilarious and part of me thought it was passable. There were some really strange story beats in this no doubt because this wasn’t the dark comedy it was advertised to be. I dunno what the proper word for it would be…dim comedy? Without implying that the comedy was stupid, I mean to say that Jennifer Aniston’s part in the story was treated completely differently than the two male bosses and was resolved in a way that felt tacked on. Decent movie, just not the funniest thing I saw this summer (:cough: Bridesmaids :cough:) ...

What I've Been Doing [FB/IB/BT/GO]

TV Weeds - New season started yesterday. The three year time gap puts Nancy in New York City and moves far past the storylines from last year by also claiming that Esteban is dead and his cartel disbanded. It seems that Nancy is heading toward working in the weapons trade instead, which is interesting, but we’ll see where the season goes. Ever since they left Agrestic this show has really started to shine as it changes every year. Can’t wait to see where it goes this year. ...

What I've Been Playing/Watching/Reading [GO/IB/FB/BT]

Here’s another breakdown of the media I’ve been consuming: Video Games: I haven’t talked about these for a long while, so I’m just gonna go over recent history, post-robbery. L.A. Noire - Just beat it last night. I think that the game premise shows a lot of potential, but the true masterpiece will be any game that piggybacks off of this one. Why did they feel the need to open world this? It only creates dissonance between the character as portrayed and the character they want him to be. Also: interrogations are neat, but very tough. ...
