When Schneider tagged me in her version of this I almost pulled a Linus Torvalds (http://torvalds-family.blogspot.com/2009/02/25-things-about-me.html), but instead I decided not to do one at all. Then I came across two “25 Random Baseball Things” articles and fell in love with the idea as a way to release pent up excitement about the upcoming baseball season. Hope you enjoy it.. 1. Baseball was the first team sport I ever played. To this day I don’t really understand what motivated my father to sign me up for the game. My grandfather is afraid of playing catch due to an incident where he got beaned, my dad is mostly apathetic toward sports in general, including baseball, and my older brother hated little league baseball. My best guess is that we were living in the mostly Cuban (at the time) Hialeah where little league baseball is the predominant sport. ...

Another plug for I’m Not Mad today as we enter our second major story arc. With some of the gang jobless and facing the uncertain economy, what can our heroes do other than get jobs as govvies? Ok, so I know I’ve been in and out so often these past three weeks, but what am I supposed to do? I’ve been travelling around the country and sick to boot, so unable to get ahead on my posts. So you won’t worry too much and so you’ll stick around, how about a little taste of some stories that will be coming up soon? Continuing next Friday will be the regular Villains of FF that you’ve no doubt been waiting so long to see concluded. I can barely contain my excitement for this final game between the Sooners and the Gators. Yesterday was spent mostly reading about the matchups and looking at game projections for who was going to win this game (I also found a guy who writes a Tuesday Morning Quarterback column, but I think he writes about college ice hockey, if I remember properly). Because I read mostly Gator-oriented articles, I find myself feeling more and more that a Gators win is probable or possible. In fact, I’m super glad that the Gators seem to have a bit of underdog status again thanks to Bradford getting the Heisman and OU being more vocal than UF. This is part of what helped us beat the Buckeyes two years ago. ...

Break is over and I should be returning to a more regularly scheduled format for this week’s blogging. Hope you’ve all had a happy New Year! I know it’s not Wednesday, but I think it’s fair to call this a football category too, so bear with me on this. Last night was the conclusion of yet another bowl game for OSU and yet another night of disappointment for the Buckeyes. It was so close to being a victory for them, that it almost hurts to talk about. A controversial, but ultimately right spotting put the Longhorns into a great position to take the ball in with under thirty seconds left to put them ahead of the Buckeyes at the last possible moment. Crisis could have been averted with a field goal, but the Buckeyes got an untimely sack and didn’t have the time to manage any comparable last minute heroics. ...

I’ll admit it, I’m a bit of a grinch when it comes to Christmas music. The songs never change and it all gets rather repetitive, especially since radio stations start exclusively playing Christmas music almost immediately following Thanksgiving. What’s a guy to do? Find an awesome alternative. In the past that alternative has usually been rock Christmas albums, like the always fun Relient K Christmas albums, but this year my, admittedly post-Christmas, salvation comes in the form of chip tunes. ...

Expect this post and tomorrow’s post, but then I’m on hiatus again until after the New Year’s weekend. This video highlights a move that I hope many more companies make in the near future: Clamshell packaging is an absolute chore to open and I fully applaud Sony’s decision to stop using it.
