Stupid Sammy Sosa [WMQ]

Guess what kids, your heroes are dead! With the most recent name release on that infamous 2003 PED leak, we now know that Sammy Sosa was among the 103 or so names that failed that initial drug test.

John Shea points out that we all thought his “Flintstones vitamins” response to the PED question was cute back then, but we’re not amused now. Oh no, it’s ceased to be funny.

Listening to yesterday’s edition of Baseball Today, it dawned on me that those dudes were right: this bit by bit, piece by piece release of the list is damaging to the sport and distracting everyone from the season. Whomever is responsible for all these leaks, just put us all out of our misery and release the whole darn thing. At this point I don’t want to learn every few weeks who the next guy was.

It’s a real shame too, PEDs have really ruined the image of the 90s for the sport. Despite what some writers say, I hope that these players get punished by not getting voted into the Hall of Fame. PEDs are way different from Pete Rose. I also support a stricter drug-testing policy. Full season suspension after one, ban from baseball after two. If you keep going easy on them, they’ll never get the idea.
