I Bring Nothing to the Table

No MLB Power Pros 2009 [GO]

I think we can officially call it right here: MLB Power Pros 2009 is not coming to the states. By this point last year we already knew that the 2008 edition was launching in July past the All-Star game.

On the other hand, we didn’t know about the first one until about September or October, so I still had some hope.

Until I saw this post on Kotaku.

What a shame that 2K is missing a tremendous opportunity to publish a great game that people in the US do actually love.

I’m gonna do my part and at least link the petition some other fans have made, even though petitions have about a snowflake’s chance in hell of getting this game out in the states.

    It’s kind of annoying too, cause I wanted to pick up these games in Japan, but it’s still on Wii and PS2 and those are region-locked in the states =[

    2K! Listen to the fans! Bring MLB PP 09 to the states!

    Haha, it would be the most useless purchase ever! At least DS and PS3 games are region-free. Maybe I’ll spot something good out there in that category.

    The people on the forum I’m at thinks that there’s a pattern for release dates. First it was October, then July for the last game, and this year in October. So we still have to be optimistic about the release, and we might not know anything until August or September. So I wouldn’t believe that kotaku post you had.

      I think it’s premature to start believing that there’s a staggered release pattern, what with only two games on the market, but I hope, for our sake, that they’re right. I’d love to see a 2009 edition, but I’d rather be skeptical and not get my hopes up just in case 2K dashes them against the rocks.

      If you’re listening 2K, I will buy this game on launch day. Just release it and you have at least one guaranteed customer.

      I wonder if they think that it’s cutting into their MLB 2kX sales. If that’s the case, they should reevaluate because I think that MLB 2k8 and 2k9 are held to be inferior products to The Show and even The Bigs 2.

      We love the Power Pros series! Keep bringing them out!

      Interesting point. How much heads up was there before the game came out, though? No one’s going to buy a game they don’t know has been released. I’d love to be optimistic, though, because I played the game for the first time last weekend and it rocked.

        The first game came out like a week or two after I heard about it on an IGN podcast. There might have been a more general press release, but I didn’t see it. 2K has yet to realize that a little publicity would put the perceived “kiddy nature” far behind the actual depth within this game and drive sales.
