Zainichi Funk: Japanese Funk You Can’t Forget [F/ER]

Have you ever found yourself thinking, “Self, what would kickass Japanese funk sound like?”

Well, it would sound a lot like 在日ファンク (Zainichi Funk)

The above song, “爆弾こわい” (“Bakugan Kowai” or “Scary Bomb”) is…awesome. Give it a listen. You might be disappointed if you have no soul, but I can’t see not liking it otherwise.

that guy has some scary-loose joints.

The song is really catchy, though. It’s funny without the note, I would have have thought he was saying Kawai.

Did you notice the person “planking” on the bomb? Also, someone was using a scrying stick at some point.

There was a moment in Japan with my “mom” Susan where I said that a baby was kawaii and she was like, “Oh my god, don’t say that!” and I was all…”I said kawaii, no kowai” and she said, “Oh. It sounded like the other one.”

      Cool story, no?

Also, do you mean dowsing rod?

Hehe….scary baby! Given what we know about those asian languages/humor, I bet there are tons of jokes relating to kawai and kowai being so close.

        Yes on the rod.

Also is this related to Bakugan the [pokemon successor] game the kids are playing nowadays? Like is that meant to be the Japanese word for bomb? or Just coincidence.

I’m not sure about the poke-clone’s roots. It might not be using the same characters or something like that or maybe it is meant to be bomb (or maybe I’m spelling it wrong).

As for kawaii/kowai, I don’t think they’re spelled very similarly, but I’d guess they have homophone humor in Japan too.
